Ecommerce providers have much to celebrate with the arrival of the iPad 3, demonstrated in early March, and, "for reasons far removed from aesthetics, screen resolution, and internal processing power," says Daily Deal Media blogger Michael Essany. According to a new report from retail analysis firm RichRelevance, ecommerce has rebounded with the help of mobile commerce. Not surprisingly, the 90 million smartphone users and 24 million tablet owners in the U.S. have contributed substantially to what some analysts are already calling the ecommerce comeback of 2011.
In even greater detail, the study reported that 92 percent of mobile purchases in December 2011 originated from an iPad or another iOS-enabled device. "The iPad 3 is going to create more jobs and revenue in the ecommerce sector than any other mobile device we're going to see this year, bar none," independent business analyst Mike Randazzo tells Daily Deal Media. "Apple's devices are magnets for online shopping. And given the talk of improved screen resolution coming with the iPad 3, this thing is going to be the undisputed preferred platform for mobile shoppers when looking up products, their images, and reviews."
