Dubbed "The Show of the Future," the Asia America Trade Show, held September 11-13 in Miami Beach, FL, was a huge success, with 240 exhibitors and more than 8,000 buyers from 34 countries in South and Central America, the Caribbean and the U.S. Florida alone has more than 6,000 exporters who seek out new technology and general merchandise to offer to their clients. "We are the window to the future," states Michael Finocchiario, president of the Asia America Trade Show. "Everyone is looking to get distributors and wholesalers from the Americas and they are looking at our show as the gateway to that region." The market region is one of the fastest growing areas in the U.S., he points out, with a projected seven percent GDP growth rate for 2012.
Attracting nearly 2,000 more buyers than the previous year's show, the third annual Asia America Trade Show delivered more than 150,000 products in multiple categories. Both new and established buyers looking to invest in new markets, expand sales volume and increase their buyer base found deals on general merchandise, consumer electronics, games, apparel, toys, giftware, housewares, health and beauty, outdoor, sports equipment, souvenirs, handbags, tools, novelties and party supplies, smoking accessories, costume jewelry, shoes, closeouts and liquidations, and more. Toy helicopters were hot sellers at this year's show and "everybody bought those," Finocchiario notes. "Toys in general were very popular, apparel was big, and general merchandise is always constant. Our exhibitors were very happy with the business they got. We brought in really qualified buyers."
Miami Beach is the ideal location for the show for several reasons, Finocchiario shares. Today's entrepreneurs and buyers from Latin America, the Caribbean and the U.S. want to do business as close as possible to their homelands, in their own language, and in an environment where they feel comfortable, even though 90 percent of international buyers speak English, and Miami is the hub of the Americas. In addition, the city is the center for exports and imports throughout Latin America and the Southeast, and offers excellent shipping. All major freight forwarders, logistics, air cargo and export/import services ship direct to many countries, making it easy for buyers to get merchandise back to their countries. The Asia America Trade Show continues to grow in popularity from year to year, and Finocchiario anticipates more than 10,000 buyers and 400 exhibitors will attend the 2013 show. It will be held September 27-29, 2013, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. For more information visit, http://www.acsshow.org, email at info@acsshow.org, or call 305-262-3200.
