The Line: This is a supplier of virtually all the pricing and tagging supplies and equipment needed in a retail store. That includes the traditional hand held guns that click a label on a product, tools that attach tags securely to apparel, and the corresponding labels and tags. There are machines that create bar codes at the retail level and also custom labels containing bar codes. The latter can also be printed with a description of the product and/or the price, along with the UPC code, which eliminates the potential for theft by switching labels from low price items to high price ones.
D.C. Jaymes also carries an extensive line of sign cards in several sizes. They can be generic Sale cards, or can be customized. One line allows the retailer to run them through a printer to add individual messages. Many merchandising tools are also offered. They include plastic bags in three sizes and many colors and styles, including a plastic camouflage print bag that has become increasingly popular. A variety of LED signs is offered, including "Open" and "Coffee" signs.
Minimum Order/Pricing: While there is no minimum order, prepaid orders of $150 can contain an assortment of items and are shipped anywhere in the U.S. for free. A majority of the labels are sold 1,000 to a roll. Sign cards come 100 to a pack. Bags come in cases of 500 or 1,000. The smallest, least expensive sign cards are $5.60 for 100. The biggest, 11 by 14 inch sign cards are $30 for 100. Bags start at $17.50 per 1,000. The simplest of hand held pricing guns is $49, and many are available for under $100.
Special Features: Quantities and minimums are designed to enable a small retailer to become well equipped with a minimum investment. For example, if a store wants three sizes of bags, the owner can order just three cases, one of each size.
Literature: All products are shown and described on the company's website, and most can be ordered online.
Management Says: "We're a family owned business and have been in business since 1974. We try to be a one stop for all the supplies a retailer needs to operate a business, and pay particular attention to independent retailers' needs." -Kim Walls, VP.
