Following the DVD release of Universal Studios' Snow White and the Huntsman, Pacific Solution Marketing, Inc. saw sales figures reflect the additional blockbuster buzz. As a leading source for movie prop replicas and original weaponry, the wholesaler has a couple of action flick titles under its belt, including the 2011 hit Immortals, and hopes to procure more licenses in the future. "The Immortals line of products was released quite some time ago, but it did well again this year because our sales tend to ride the DVD wave," points out Peter Lee, marketing manager. "The second wave of publicity that comes with any DVD release usually results in another uptick in sales."
Movie memorabilia is not the only type of product generating sales, however, and the company produces value stainless steel blades, as well as one-of-a-kind samurai swords. Catering to a wide variety of customers and delivering its products with care and consistency, Pacific Solution Marketing also specializes in kitchen cutlery, available on its sister site, TSUKitchenKnives.com.
Pacific Solution Marketing's merchandise wholesales for $2 to $10,000 per item, selling at retail for at least twice that amount. The highest ticket items are handmade by master sword smiths in China and are a great source of pride for the firm. "It can take up to seven months to build a single one of our handmade pieces," Lee reveals. "We will take special orders and customize the blade to the buyer, down to every last detail, from wrapping the hilt to engraving the blade. Our master smiths are certified by the Chinese government, which is an honor." While these carefully crafted products are less frequently requested, attention to detail is universal throughout the company, as is dedication to competitive pricing. "We have holiday specials that we offer to our customers, and if readers mention our ad in Web Wholesaler, we can give them ten percent off," Lee says.
Going forward, the company will be releasing a line of paracords, which are lightweight nylon ropes originally used in World War II. Today, paracords are used to secure tents, bind rucksacks and attach gear to the top of a vehicle. The company plans to offer lanyards, wristbands and keychains, which Lee reports are in high demand among his outdoorsy customers. Though it is a new and different direction for a firm specializing in battle gear, Lee notes that the level of demand for paracords at a low price will make this a worthwhile venture. "We are going to produce a Class Three paracord, meaning it will be capable of holding up to 550 pounds of weight or tension," Lee explains. "There are government standards around this item and we are definitely on par with those." Pacific Solution Marketing will offer paracords for around $3 apiece wholesale, which can retail for two to three times that amount. Display cases will be available.
